The Cliff House

Published by mgeedey

If you’re visiting the bay Area you simply must make time to stop by the historic Cliff House. And while it would be preferred that you enjoy a Sunday brunch, lunch, or evening dinner at the great restaurant, merely stopping in for a refreshing cocktail in between catching sights is always a welcome respite. The original Cliff House was built in 1863 along the city’s coastline where it stands today, albeit updated and modernized to include a stunning twostory dining room that perches atop spectacular cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Inside is Sutro’s restaurant that offers delightful cuisine that embraces seasonal change and local ingredients. Choose from temptations like Bacon Crusted Loch Duart Salmon (28), Duet of Maple Leaf Duck (31), or Seared Herb marinated Sea Scallops (29) and desserts such as Frozen Lemon Souffle (9), Butterscotch Pots de Crme (9) or a selection of artisan cheeses (of which San Francisco has a ton to offer) for 12. And should you not be able to stop in for a full meal but just a cocktail as you toast the sunset from the panoramic view, we suggest you try one of the Cliff House’s famous Ramos Fizz cocktails a tribute to a past era that blends Gordon’s gin, sweet and sour, egg whites, half and half, orange juice and the most fragrant orange flower water you can imagine. At 5 each, these yummy frothy citrusy adult beverages are definitely worth writing home about!
